À La Mode’s songs are a sort of patched-up summer dress you wear to sigh in on rainy days – for moments of emotional gravity and feelings of lovelorn anguish. Though the songs are melancholy, they’re also amusing.
Marshall & The Buddy System have arrived with a new string of tunes to hurl in the face of the Winnipeggers. Alongside familiar pals David Skene (The Zorgs), Paige Drobot (The Psychics), and David Warkentin (glenn murray), Marshall Birch (The Unbelievable Bargains) explores new territory with a softer and fuller sound, incorporating plenty of lead guitar, keyboards, and rich backing vocals - a new spin on Marshall's familiar songwriting style. Major inspirations such as Harry Nilsson, Cat Stevens, The Kinks, The Lovin' Spoonful, and The Velvet Underground become more clear with the comforting blanket of punk stripped away, while the lyrics continue to hammer home Marshall's ethos of tellin'-it-straight-'bout-the-day-to-day.
Campfire Sigh is collective of Grant Prosser, Nate Jacobucc, Cody Valentonis and Jeremy Rusu. The Sigh have been constructing an album for the last few months framing their storybook songs of first love, betrayal, fantasy, and perseverance in atmospheres that call upon the 60's & 70's
