About

It all started with a vision. A vision initiated by a group of grassroots Chinese-Canadians who wanted to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Confederation in style.

The Legacy 150 Celebrations Society (a non-profit organization registered with the Federal government of Canada) took initiative in organizing the Canada 150 Atlantic to Pacific Celebration project, which proposes a series of regional drumming events that will occur simultaneously across Canada, to form a dynamic national drumming event occurring on Canada Day, July 1st, 2017.

More importantly, the group would like to make sure that the event is multicultural and inclusive. Through the eight regions including Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Vancouver, that have come together, each group is planning what they are doing in their own city, at an iconic location, to drum together on July 1st, 2017.

The objectives of the celebration are two-fold:

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation with all inclusive, simultaneous, multicultural drumming across Canada on July 1st, 2017. Everyone is welcome!

Attempt to set a Guinness World Record™ for “Most Nationalities in a Drum Circle” in Vancouver of a recognized orchestral piece of music lasting at least five minutes. Our attempt will be 50+ nationalities drumming together!
