About
In a slightly different take on the usual concert, we celebrate the name of the greatest composer to have ever lived.
All the music is going to be based around a particular musical theme: in the German musical alphabet they go beyond just A to G and have a letter H as well. All the pieces we will be playing are built around the name "Bach," which can be spelled using the German musical alphabet. The use of this musical idea goes back at least as far as Johann Sebastian Bach himself, who used it in several works, including his last masterpiece, The Art of the Fugue.
We will have works by Liszt, two members of the Bach family, a composition written only last year by Carson Cooman, a new work by Daniel Dorff for two flutes, and a set of fugues by Robert Schumann, among others.
Michael Cutler, organ and piano
