The Winnipeg BBQ and Blues Festival is a new event launching in the summer of 2012. The three-day event takes place August 17 to 19 at Red River Exhibition Park and will feature the best in local, national and international blues performers along with a “Pit Masters” BBQ competition.
A weekend full of red-hot blues will be featured on three stages beginning each day at noon. From the inaugural “Meat Ball” on Friday to Winnipeg’s first “Gospel Brunch” on Sunday morning Winnipeggers and visitors will be treated to over 20 bands over the weekend!
The Winnipeg Free Press Pit Masters Championship is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned BBQ competition. Open to amateurs and professionals, contestants from many regions of Canada and the United States will be competing for points and prizes. The coveted prize for the “Grand Champion” will include an automatic invite to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
Attendees will also be able to see 70 plus tricked out “Big Rigs” at the 5th Annual House of Chrome Show and Shine.
