Before The Matrix, Blade Runner and Star Warscame the film that started it all, Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent science fiction masterpiece Metropolis. We present the complete digitally restored film with the original 1927 orchestral score by Gottfried Huppertz performed live by the WSO.Metropolis is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and examines a common science fiction theme of the day: the social crisis between workers and owners in capitalism. Produced in Germany by Universum Film A.G. (UFA), it was the most expensive film of its time.
