The acclaimed series from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
For the past two seasons our Beyond the Score® presentation-concerts have been so successful we had to bring back another. This time we feature Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, in a acclaimed multi-media presentation created by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra that brings a major classical work to listeners using live theatre, actor and narrator followed by a complete performance of the work. Our presentation examines Ravel’s famous orchestration of Mussorgsky’s mighty piano sequence. Learn about the fascinations and contradictions of this cool, sophisticated 20th century Frenchman orchestrating a work by a mid 19th century Russian who was wild and strange and certainly neither cool sophisticated.
