With compelling courage and strength, Winnipeg singer-songwriter Julia Kasdorf crafts intelligent folk-pop songs inspired by everything her vocation as a social worker, to her close relationships with her family and friends. Passionate about words and inspired by music from a variety of genres, Julia feels most at home in the storytelling tradition that folk music offers. While longing and searching are recurring themes in her music, hope is just as prominent. The 26-year-old has performed in Winnipeg for more than eight years, including stints on the Young Performers Stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival as well as opening slots for acclaimed artists like Del Barber and Kerri Woelke. Most recently Julia recorded three songs with producer Shawn Dealey, who is known for his work with Imaginary Cities and Greg MacPherson. These songs - Julia's first recorded work in a number of years - will be available soon.
