About

Prairie Songstress Raine Hamilton is like a shorter, more musical Tina Fey, crossed with a shorter, funnier Joni Mitchell.

Appearing at the renowned West End Cultural Centre with her biggest band yet, Raine Hamilton takes the stage to debut her new 10 song album Past Your Past.

Accompanied by bass, drums, cello, violin, guitar, and banjo, and joined on stage by a free-writing poet, Raine breathes life into her stories and songs.

Be lifted up with up-tempo tunes like bluegrass-tinged Time and independence-infused Knots in Wood. Be transported to a deeply honest place with ethereal, heartbreaking gems like January, and Paper Cranes. Each song has a story, a relatable tale of love, of growth, of fortune and its misses… or in one case, a kind of embarrassing but funny story set in a highschool library.

A poet will join her on stage, writing live in real time, reinventing the songs and stories into poetic works, to be shared as the night goes on. A songwriter’s circle will open the evening, including phenomenal local acts Ingrid Gatin and Allison Degroot.

Raine promises safe passage to the rough and beautiful places; to courageous transformation, bravely cutting through to the heart.

Expect to laugh.

Expect to cry.

She’s probably shorter than you think, so expect that, too.
