About
The theatrically-minded indie-folk band, The Decemberists, are bringing their creative lyrics and eclectic sound to Winnipeg for the first time on July 22nd, co-presented by Union Events and The Winnipeg Folk Festival. Frontman Colin Meloy last played the Winnipeg Folk Fest in 2013, but this is the band's first appearance in the city - and it comes hot on the heels of their new release What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. Their unique style draws on the British music of the '60s, including Steeleye Span who are playing the festival for the first time in 2015. In addition to their fantastical lyrics, which often focus on historical events and/or folklore, The Decemberists are known for their wildly eclectic live shows.
Tickets are $45 in advance plus fees and are available at the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store and at winnipegfolkfestival.ca.
