The 17th edition of send + receive is all about rhythm. The word rhythm tends to conjure particular ideas: drums, beats, time, speech, movement. These elements, and many others, will be touched upon at this years' festival, but they will be presented in ways that are sure to surprise and at times confound.
This years' edition brings together an outstanding array of artists whose techniques and ideologies encompass a vast breadth of inspiring and mind-opening approaches. Works and performances by icons of minimal techno, 70s kraut-rock, Japanese psychedelia, free improv, electronica, free jazz, fluxus, and conceptual art from around the globe join four innovative and exciting young Canadian artists for this very special program.
The potential for bliss is decidedly high this year. In the words of the great George Clinton, "Free your mind and your ass will follow".
