PETER AND THE WOLF (Sergei Prokofiev)
An original arrangement by Jeff Presslaff from the WJO & narrated by Winnipeg’s own, Ismaila Alfa.
In 1936, Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned to write a new musical symphony for young audiences. The story of the brave boy who captures the wolf, and keeps him from the hunters is universal in its appeal. For this performance featuring WJO’s own big band arrangement we are ably assisted in the storytelling by Winnipeg rapper and radio host Ismaila Alfa. Alfa will also narrate The Night Before Christmas, while the WJO serves up some other holidays favourites, including Duke Ellington’s Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, music that will keep anyone’s house from falling down.
