Sheena Grobb and Those Guys “Walk the Walk” for MS Fundraiser Concert

Singer/songwriter Sheena Grobb and A-capella group Those Guys are teaming up with an MS Walk fundraising team to present Walk the Walk, a Fundraiser Concert in support of MS Research. The concert will take place at the West End Cultural Center on February 20th, 2016 at 8pm. Tickets are available online at http://walkthewalk.brownpapertickets.com/, can be purchased at Into the Music, McNally Robinson, at the West End Cultural Center box office, or by contacting Sheena Grobb, Those Guys or members of the Walk the Walk team through their preferred social media (listed below). All proceeds for this Fundraiser Concert will go to the MS Society of Canada - Manitoba Division and the Living Compassion Project.

Diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis at the age of 16, Sheena Grobb learned very young that our health (and our lives) are incredibly fragile.  She is a singer/songwriter/musician/teacher and has been for as long as she can remember.  She considers music to be a vehicle for connection.  With 3 albums and over 500 shows across North America and the UK, she's learned to use songs to communicate her feelings, recognizing that what she expresses is often shared by a larger collective.

Co-founder of The Living Compassion Project, Sheena is empowering others to share their stories as she has begun to share hers. Her recent participation as a TEDx speaker on the topic of self worth and compassion garnered her the only standing ovation of the day.  She longs to inspire others to give voice to their experiences with the hope of opening new perspectives, creating a culture of compassion, and connecting with the emotions her music so often touches.   Sheena is especially interested in reaching out to youth and those newly diagnosed with MS.

Made up of eight performers who represent a cross-section of the Winnipeg music and theatre community, Those Guys have built a reputation for dynamic, feel-good performances since 2009. Their repertoire, which ranges from The Nylons to Justin Timberlake (and everything in between), features complex (and sometimes original) musical arrangements performed without a single instrument. In 2012, Those Guys released their first studio recording - “That Album” and their follow-up EP, “LIVE!” was released in December 2014.

The Walk the Walk team was started by Lori Kemp after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012. The team is composed of family and friends of Lori and has placed third in overall team fund-raising for the MS Walk in Manitoba for three years in a row. Married with three children, Lori runs her own business and volunteers for many organizations close to her heart. She has been raising funds for MS research through the Walk the Walk team, planning events such as Bingo Bowls, Fundraising Dinners and Garage Sales. The Walk the Walk team is very excited to work with Sheena Grobb and Those Guys to put together this fantastic event for a great cause.

The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease.  They have a membership of 28,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since their founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.
