About

Heart of the City Benefit is back at the West End Cultural Centre this year Saturday May 14th.

We have created a truly unique musical event with special guests The Allstars. Coming together for an evening of music are some of Winnipeg’s finest musicians including the very popular singer, songwriter Sheena Grobb; award-winning guitarist and producer Murray Pulver, who has graced stages and recording studios with Crash Test Dummies, The Brothers Landreth, Doc Walker the Wyrd Sisters, Ego Spank and other groups; and Jay Bodner and Lawrence “Spatch” Mulhall, both Juno and multi-award award winning members of Eagle and Hawk. This stellar group of prominent local musicians will not only be performing, but playing back-up to special performances by some of the talented participants in the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre’s Just TV program.

If the fabulous music and opportunity to be some of the first to hear new musical talent wasn’t enough, our silent auction and raffle are even bigger and better this year with over 20 donated works of original art as well as a number of other fabulous and unique items to bid on.

This year funds raised at the event will be used to support Mount Carmel Clinic’s Nutrition Program. Hunger and malnutrition amongst children in Winnipeg impacts all of us, potentially creating barriers to success for the future teachers, doctors, engineers, ballerinas, artists, firefighters, architects and other future contributors to our community. That’s why Mount Carmel Clinic’s Anne Ross Day Nursery provides daily snacks and a hot lunch for the 48 children attending the daycare, with extra food to top up hungry tummies on Mondays and on Fridays to help them through the weekends.

Tickets are only $20 and can be purchased online atwww.mountcarmel.ca by emailing foundation@mountcarmel.ca or by calling the foundation at 204.793.7580. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Heart of the City Benefit.
