About

Four years and a difficult separation later, Canadian electro-pop group Dragonette is set to release a new album.

“Royal Blues,” the group’s first LP since 2012′s “Bodyparts,” will be released Nov. 11. “Sweet Poison,” a track off the new record, premieres exclusively on Speakeasy below.

“Royal Blues” was a long time coming in large part due to the way vocalist and writer Martina Sorbara and crew work. “We are very slow. We are not super-prolific people,” Sorbara said.

Sorbara and her husband, Dragonette co-founder and musician Dan Kurtz, also went through a separation in the meantime. “It made everything kind of difficult, but the creative process was, all of a sudden, completely different,” Sorbara said. “We had to figure out what we were and who we were and how we work and everything. It was like starting from zero.”

The group is kicking off a North American tour in November, too.
