About

We hosted C.R. for the first time back in 2008 or thereabouts. I discovered him when he opened for Scott Nolan a couple of years prior and was immediately fascinated by the guy. When a concert he was scheduled to open was cancelled, I got ahold of him and asked, since he had to pass through town anyway, would he like to do a house show. Mere days before the gig, it was set. For whatever reason, I assumed it would be a solo show with just CR and his keyboard. He showed up with a full string quartet, including a bonus violin player they found in Brandon and a conductor who played electric guitar and snare drum (who is now known as the axe-murdering half of The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer). Minds were blown. One of the attendees (who has seen many an impressive show in his days) told me it was one of the ten best shows he had seen in his life. Most attendees had similar feelings.

Having since seen C.R. probably 8 or 9 times now, I can honestly say no two of those shows have been the same. He and his band were through town recently at the W.E.C.C. and I'm delighted to report that if it wasn’t the best show I’ve seen him do, it was dang close. Backed by a tight four-piece band that features stunning powerhouse vocals from bassist/guitarist Chelsea D. Johnson and keyboardist Adam Farnsworth, the show goes from a full-on rock’n’roll show, venturing into blues, hip-hop, jazz and beat poetry, all wrapped up in a theatrical package making it the best Fringe play you’ve never seen. After agreeing to make a pit stop at the ‘Dome on their way back to Vancouver from heading out east, there was talk that maybe they’d strip the show down a bit and feature Chelsea and Adam, artists in their own right, a bit more. Then they said - what the hell - let’s just give the StuDome the Full Meal Deal. Translation: I don’t know what is going to happen but I’m sure excited to find out!

Seriously folks - people will be talking about this one for YEARS. If you only go to one StuDome show this year, make sure it’s this one. Don’t miss out! Plus, it’ll almost be Brittany’s birthday and also real close to Christmas. Peace and joy will be all over the place. You’ll probably never wash it all off.

Suggested admission price at the door: $25
Pay what you can/will, but that’s what folks paid at the WECC last week to see this great show in a much less intimate setting. The size of the band and their equipment will keep the StuDome crowd to a smaller than usual size, and we want to keep their payday as befitting their talent as much as possible. CR’s new album is out too - “All The Angels Didn’t Scare Me” - make sure you bring a few bucks to pick that up, too. It’s a good ‘un!
