Lubomyr Melnyk is one of the world's great living pianists. Recognized as a pioneer and maverick, his remarkable innovation in technique and originality has created the new genre of Continuous Music, taking the instrument into transcendentally unheard of dimensions. Combining the rich polyphonic harmonic overtones and undertones that are generated, into the melodic structure of each composition, an utterly unique sound experience is unfolded. Both powerful and sublimely beautiful, his performances have astonished and deeply moved audiences worldwide. Considered to be the fastest pianist in the world, he set two world records, documented on film and with full audio, at the Sigtuna Stiftelsen in Sweden, with sustained speeds of over 19.5 notes per second, and played between 13 and 14 notes per second for one full hour.

ClearLightSound is thrilled to host Maestro Melnyk in two full concert performances on Saturday and Sunday, February 4th and 5th. (These milestone events may be the last time Lubomyr Melnyk plays in Winnipeg.) New compositions will be premiered at both performances. The intimacy of the venue will allow each person to be immersed and enveloped in the dynamic and delicate sonority of truly magical music.
