About
JUNO-nominated Canadian indie troublemakers Born Ruffians are back and headed across North America with a new, rhythm-driven album and their original lineup. Drummer Steve Hamelin returns as the band's "arhythmically beating heart" for the February 16th release Uncle, Duke & the Chief. The album is a record less concerned with what sounds hip than what feels good - marking a return to the more jittery, feral sound fans originally fell in love with and passing over mouse-clicked studio trickery in favour of a more classic sound.
Uncle, Duke & the Chief daringly tap-dances along the line separating celebration and sorrow. Staring down a career crossroads, consumed with doubt and thoughts of mortality, they've responded with a record as beautiful, exhilarating, chaotic and nerve-wracking as life itself. Come ready to move, sing along, and feel a little catharsis as we rid ourselves of the winter dust.
