About
Park Sounds is a new duo comprised of Manitoba-raised, Montreal-based musicians Jennifer Thiessen (viola, viola d’amore) and Ben Reimer (percussion). Their debut program, Root Systems, is inspired by a diagram of the deep root systems of prairie plants and explores themes of origin, belonging and culture. It includes existing works by Luciano Berio and Tigran Mansurian as well as four new Canadian pieces by Karen Sunabacka, Michael Matthews, Marielle Groven and Daniel Morphy.
An arrangement of the late Greg Lowe’s Letting Go takes a place of honour on the program.
