Stacey James is a singer/songwriter from Winnipeg whose love for music began at a young age. At 7, she began writing short stories and poetry and soon thereafter, lyrics. Her need to accompany those lyrics lead to playing keyboard, trumpet, acoustic, electric and bass guitar, tenor sax, and fiddle. Following in the footsteps of her singer/poet mother. she got a taste of amazing soul creators, The Funk Brothers and as she grew, so did her passion to create her own soulful sound.
At age 14, she was already making her mark as a performer on the hip hop scene locally, in Canada and in the U.S. She became the lead songwriter and singer with local band GroovePort and would soon form her own : Stacey James Band.
Stacey is fueled by the belief that her creative journey is endless. She has shared the stage and written songs with many artists throughout North America and Europe spanning genres : R&B, funk, soul, blues, rock and pop. She is also passionate about helping others and is involved in the annual “Women Helping Women” event assisting women and children in difficult domestic situations. She has also published a children’s book series titled “Dealings With Feelings” and many “real life“ articles in the Huffington Post.
