In this special summer concert we say farewell to Trudy Schroeder, Executive Director of the WSO for 13 incredible years, with two works of her choosing: Aaron Copland’s powerful Fanfare for the Common Man and the beautiful andante movement of Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto featuring concertmaster Gwen Hoebig.

The relationship between a teacher and student can create lasting bonds. Rising star David Liam Roberts studied with WSO principal cellist Yuri Hooker for eight years before attending Toronto’s Glenn Gould School. Listen carefully as two cellos become one in works by Antonio Vivaldi and Carlo Alfredo Piatti.

Inspired by his own trip to Italy, we end the evening by returning to Mendelssohn and his Italian Symphony.
