The Dingleberries have finally released their long-awaited debut album. Several years in the making, the project represents a labour of love for the band members.
"With this album, we decided to invest in ourselves,"explains bass and keyboard player Scott Bell. "We bought the equipment, outfitted studios in our homes, and through trial and error taught ourselves the use of recording technology.Of course, we didn't get it right the first try, or even the first few tries. This album has gone through several drafts, but it finally began to sound like something we would be pleased to let the public hear."
All of the songs on the album were written by lead singer and guitarist Frank MacLean."This album represents an interesting mix of songs, in that some of these songs, we have been playing live for fifteen years, while others were recently written in the studio. The first ever original song we created as a band, Everybody Loves Her, is on this album."
The Dingleberries are now shifting their focus from the recording studio to the live stage.
"We are booking shows now, and the challenge is taking some of these studio creations and fashioning some kind of live song structure that the band can pull off," explains drummer Warren Massey," we may not be doing carbon copies of the recordings, but we will do our best to capture the essence of these songs."
The Dingleberries are planning a CD release party at the West End Cultural Centre on Saturday, September 10th, that will also feature Manitoba recording artists Dear Screaming, and Paul Bergman.
