Mark Live at the Glesby Centre

Friday, April 15, 2005 was a Gala Night featuring Mark Bannister and four other young performers along with Murray Pulver from Doc Walker as a special guest performer. Mark Bannister, Debra Dyck, Bryce Pallister, Jenna Henuset and Shannay Smith had all been opening acts for featured performers in the Glesby Centre's Coffee House Concert Series, but on this night they were the stars of the show. And what a show it was! Ron Robinson from CBC Radio was the MC for the evening, and after the official welcome and opening by the Mayor of Portage la Prairie, Ian MacKenzie, the audience was treated to a varied and entertaining evening of music and song. A large audience had shown up and they were not disappointed. All the performers put on a great show. And Mark put on an excellent show playing a mix of his new and older material including the french version of "Gotta Go" called "Loin de toi". Judging from the audience reaction they really enjoyed his music, especially the once cover he did - Hotel California. Mark's unique blend of acoustic folk and rock coupled with his powerful vocals make his music the kind you just want to keep listening to over and over. By far one of his best performances to date Mark Bannister showed that he's just as comfortable with a large audience as he is in an intimate Coffee house or Pub.
