Brandon Folk Music & Art Festival
July 25-27, 2008
Keystone Centre, Under The Trees
Brandon, Manitoba

The Brandon Folk Music & Art Society is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 24th annual Brandon Folk Music & Art Festival. Headliners of this years festival include That 1 Guy, Burnt-Project 1, and JFK & The Conspirators.

Mike Silverman (aka - That 1 Guy) is described as a one-man band plucked from the pages of Dr. Seuss. His funky bass-n-drum grooves have been called eargasms that leave people in awe of the spectacle that they just witnessed. Burnt-Project 1, headed by Winnipegs David Boulanger is coming to town this summer with a 10-piece band in tow. They blend a wide musical palette of African / Middle Eastern / Latin beats, while at the same time drawing on some tasty horns from old-school jazz and funk. JFK & The Conspirators began grooving in 1995. Their powerful dancehall rhythms and catchy Jamaican ska styles have established them as one of Canadas top reggae band.

Returning artists from last years festival to Brandon this summer include Serena Postel, The Dusty Roads Band, and David Hein. All three were audience favorites last summer and we are pleased that they are able to join us again. Other performers this year include Ainsley Friesen, C.R. Avery, Deep Dark Woods, Del Barber, Eleya de Cuba, Jacob & Lily, Jake Chenier, Janksta!, Little Black Dress, Twilight Hotel, and Venus Murphy.

Along with evening performances, there will be workshops all afternoon on the main stage, activities and entertainment each afternoon in the childrens tent, and an expansive Under the Canvas area featuring displays by artisans and community groups.

Tickets for this years festival are $45 ($40 in advance) for adult weekend passes, $20 for adult day passes, $25 for student/senior weekend passes, and $15 for student/senior day passes. Children under 12 get in for free. Once again, camping passes are also available for onsite camping for $25 (family) and $10 (individual). Advanced tickets are available from Lady of the Lake, Ted Good Music, and Ten Thousand Villages in Brandon and Candor Shop and Prairie Sky Books in Winnipeg, as well as at the festival entrance.
