Jaylene Johnson is a singer/songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba whose smart-pop music has traveled the country and found its way to multiple network television programs including Pretty Little Liars and Degrassi: The Next Generation. "Undeniably angelic pipes" (The Winnipeg Sun) and "songs that make you listen more closely" (CD Baby) led to two Western Canadian Music Award nominations and multiple nods from the International Songwriting Competition. A publishing deal with Casablanca Media Publishing (now Red Brick Songs) broadened her songwriting scope and led to collaborations and cuts with some of Canada's finest established and upcoming artists; Amy Sky, The Keats, Don Amero, James Struthers, Sierra Noble and others have recorded songs co-penned by Jaylene.

Jaylene has led workshops and served on panels for the Songwriters Association of Canada, SOCAN, FACTOR and Manitoba Music, for whom she served as a board member for several years. She also designed and delivered  "The Song Shop" in Winnipeg, which she is pleased to bring to Nova Scotia this fall. The main focus of the workshop is songwriting and the creative process, though participants have the opportunity to learn from Jaylene's experience in various areas of the music industry, whether they are just getting started or looking to reach a new level. Topics may include booking a tour, promotion, networking, applying for grants, performance skills, music publishing and more. She is also available for one-on-one consultation via Skype or in person.

The Song Shop will take place in Middle West Pubnico, NS on November 1st (7-9:30PM) and November 2nd (Noon-5PM) followed by an evening of song sharing with Jaylene and the other participants. The cost is $200 per person and includes lunch and refreshments.
