In November 2023, Orvis met with cinematographer Patryk Szmidt to discuss a video for Wonderful (2023 Version) from the recently released Orvis EP.
Filming commenced at Sugar Cube Studios in Winnipeg in late November and mid-December '23.
Wonderful was first recorded in 2012 by Orvis with Sean Polden (drums) and Kyle Hauser (bass) at Private Ear Recording in Winnipeg. The finished track appears on the Orvis Thomas EP available on all streaming platforms. A new version was recorded in '23 at Studio-23 with Jeff Laird (drums), and Rory Verbrugge (pedal steel) who worked remotely, with Orvis laying down bass, guitars, and vocals. Both men have performed with Orvis at his much lauded Orvis Sings country music concert series at the Park Theatre, which as of October '23 heralded the debut of Orvis & His Higher Guns in their most recent iteration. Wonderful, a Higher Guns track in essence and spirit with the added haunting steel by Verbrugge, is an excellent teaser to the Orvis & His Higher Guns brand of Country-Rock coming your way from Orvis and the boys later in 2024.
