Novillero formed in 1999 out of the ashes of Winnipeg lounge pop darlings Transonic, picking up Rod Slaughter (Duotang), Dave Berthiaume (Bulletproof Nothing), and Rusty Matyas (The Waking Eyes) along the way. This lineup released The Brindleford Follies on Endearing Records. Rusty left, leaving room for Grant Johnson and Sean Stevens. The result is a cohesive and unique sound in the Canadian independent music scene. The self-produced album Aim Right for the Holes in their Lives on Mint Records, was recorded and mixed at Private Ear by cam Loeppky, Grant Johnson, and Lloyd Peterson. The album features guest appearances by Matyas, and Nathan's Keri McTighe and Shelley Marshall.
