The fourth release by acoustic guitar wizard Art Turner, Sonora marks the reunification of Arts world-renowned backing band, including Hugh Marsh (Bruce Cockburn, Loreena McKennitt), Michael Manring (Michael Hedges, John Gorka), Anne Bourne (Jane Siberry, Loreena McKennitt), as well as Winnipeg fiddle virtuosos Richard Moody (Swing Soniq, Paris to Kyiv, the Bills) and Jeremy Penner (The Bills, Scrüj MacDuhk). Says Grammy-winning guitarist/producer and legendary music impressario Will Ackerman (who Turner will tour with next year), Sonora is a beautiful piece with all the polish in the world without the sterilization that often happens when polish outshines emotion. People don't understand how difficult great rhythm strumming and even timing are, and Art is great at it. He should be doing session work for other bands.
