"Hans my Lion" embodies a magical gusto and a sense of daring adventure that is the perfect extension of the group's live show and general persona. Flying Fox combines gypsy jazz, classical and whimsical pop into a flamboyant, and folkloric mosaic.
Thematically, the songs on the record explore dark tales of puppetry, the sexual misadventures of heavy machinery, the nighttime journeys of little boys, and lions born of a human womb.
Dont be fooled, this album is carefully constructed and well polished, a result of the sextets classical training and complex songwriting. The horn section can rival the best of them.
