Creative Manitoba’s Careers in the Arts offers youth the chance to participate in a choice of four different group mentorship programs. Each program offers 8 evening sessions and a final event/presentation. Led by an established lead mentor, each session features guest mentors who will introduce youth to all facets of their chosen creative discipline. 

Application Dates: Deadline for Applications is December 13, 2019.

Fees: Programs are free of charge for youth selected through our application process.

How to apply:

  • Read through the application form.
  • Download the nominator form and have it completed by a teacher or unrelated adult familiar with your work.
  • If you are under 18, download the permission form and have it completed by your parent or guardian.
  • Collect any other supporting materials: your resume, samples of your work etc. 
  • Prepare your application answers in a Word doc to copy and paste from.
  • Fill out the online application and attach all supporting materials. Be sure to include your name or initials on any attached file name. It is recommended that you use Google Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer as your browser. If needed, you will be able to save an incomplete application to continue later.

Dates: Thursdays, February 27 – April 23 (no session April 2)
Plus a final showcase event  – date TBA
Time: 5:30 – 8:00 pm

Location: Manitoba Music (1-376 Donald St.)
Ages: 16-19 years old

About:   
Participants in this program will discover what it takes to be part of the ever-changing, do-it-yourself climate of today’s music industry while meeting face to face with the professionals who are on the ground making it happen. As their final project, participants will work on concert curation and production, using their organizational, technical, communication, and/or performance skills. Sign up for an interactive introduction to the roles and careers that make the exciting world of music go ‘round. For music fans, musicians, or music techs.

Youth will:

  • Have a love of music and an interest in learning about careers in music: Topics covered will include, making and releasing recordings, promotion, backstage, funding and networking
  • Articulate clearly their own goals for participation in the program (on application form)
  • Have a strong work ethic, communication skills and enthusiasm for learning
