Four artists from Manitoba have earned nominations for this year’s Native American Music Awards. Winners will be announced in Spring 2022 after the voting period ends on March 31.

Local pop/rock band Eagle & Hawk are nominated in six categories, including Best Group/Duo of the Year, Best Pop Recording, Best Rock Recording, Best Animation in a Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Rock Video. The nods recognize the important contributions of Eagle & Hawk founder Vince Fontaine, who passed away in January shortly before the nomination announcement.

Gator Beaulieu picked up a nomination for Best Country Video for his latest, “Highway Number Six”.

Hard rock outfit The Bloodshots are also up  in the Best Rock Video category for “No Way Out”.

Artists from outside of Manitoba who have participated in Indigenous Music Development Program projects and programs who are up for hardware this year include Jace Martin, Joey Stylez, Mike Bern, Twin Flames, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
