Call for Participants: Live Music Mixing & Lighting Training for BIPOC Women and Gender Diverse Creatives

Applications are now open for an exciting opportunity for BIPOC women and gender diverse creatives in Winnipeg who want to learn about live music mixing and lighting. The two-day gathering is a partnership with Manitoba Music and Women In Music Canada, offering mentorship in a small group setting with professional live sound engineers and lighting techs. The training will take place at the West End Cultural Centre in Treaty 1 Territory, Winnipeg, on March 6 and 7, 2023. The project is led by Manitoba Music and Women in Music Canada with support from FACTOR. 

Programming

The in-person intensive will include informative discussion about sound and lighting technical work along with hands-on training.  

Each day will include about four hours of programming beginning at 10:30AM with time set aside for catered lunch.

All discussions and printouts will be in English.

Eligibility

To participate in this opportunity you must:

  • Identify as a BIPOC woman or gender diverse creative 
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be able to attend and participate in the full two days of programming
  • Be a Manitoba Music member
