With so much press around crowdsourcing and fan-funding, these have practically become the new music business buzzwords. Crowdfunding allows an artist’s fanbase to take part in a project by pledging money to the project in return for special incentives. Thousands of music projects have been successfully funded through different crowdfunding platforms. Given the competition for music fans’ attention, and the many pitfalls of this approach, this workshop will provide tips and techniques to make a campaign stand out amongst the others and succeed in generating funds while strengthening an artist’s community.

About DIY Series

The January session starts with important topics that everyone needs to master including an intro to the music business, crowdsourcing, music licensing, viral video, and creating a cohesive publicity strategy.
