John Paul Peters is an award-winning music recording producer, sound engineer, mixer, musician, and studio owner from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In 2020 he won the (BreakOut West) Western Canadian Music awards for Producer of the year and audio engineering. His client list would be aptly described as diverse. He has expanded his skills in a wide variety of genres over the past 20 years. His love of music and people, along with dedication to detail and genuine effort to achieve his client’s goals, has given him much success both in the Canadian music industry and beyond.
Peters works primarily out of Private Ear Recording (www.privateearrecording.com), a fully featured recording studio located in Winnipeg's historic Exchange District.
Starting in 2002, Peters' first production effort was the debut recording for Winnipeg’s own Comeback Kid, which went on to sell over 30 000 units. Since then he has worked on multi-award winning and nominated albums including The Waking Eyes (Holding On To Whatever It Is - 2009) WCMA Best Rock Recording and Mahogany Frog (Senna - 2012) WCMA Best Instrumental Recording. And this year Cancerbats (Psychic Jailbreak 2022) was JUNO Nominated for 2023 Metal/Hard music album of the year!

Peters is a multi-instrumentalist skilled at violin, guitar, bass, keys, percussion, to name a few. He has numerous instrumental and vocal credits on albums he has produced. As a performing and recording artist, Peters has played with several groups including The Undecided and Officer Down. The Undecided was signed with Seattle-based Tooth and Nail Records, recorded two albums under the label, and toured extensively in Canada and the United States. Officer Down had several releases under Hamilton, Ontario-based Goodfellow Records.
