4 upcoming emerging francophone artists from Manitoba, 'Les Découvertes', will be performing in showcase format, June 2nd in the Pauline-Boutal Auditorium of the CCFM.
This year, discover the talents of :
Guy Abraham - Alt/Folk/Rock -
Originally from St. Boniface, Guy Abraham is a bilingual singer-songwriter who has been active on the Manitoba music scene for over 18 years. Whether he’s working as a solo artist or with one of his many musical groups, Guy is constantly honing his craft. Over the years, he has performed numerous time in cafés, pubs and concert halls in Winnipeg and elsewhere. He’s a passionate musician who has written, recorded and released several critically acclaimed albums. He was recently part of the tribute album to Franco-Manitoban music entitled THANK-YOU, MERCI and is now focussed on writing his own material. He has just released an album of songs in English, and a French-language album is well underway. With powerful melodies and disarmingly sincere lyrics, Guy’s musical style transcends definition. Guy Abraham is definitely a performer to discover or rediscover.

Namwira Folks - Rap/hiphop -
Trésor Namwira, alias Ezo Man, has lived in Manitoba since February 2011, and is the perfect embodiment of tenacity and perseverance in the pursuit of a dream. At age three, he was already singing well-known songs, according to close friends and family members. After taking to the stage in his home country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he began to develop his own unique style, which he brought with him across the Atlantic to his new home in Winnipeg.
Trésor is an engaged and socially conscious rapper who describes himself as an artist with a message. He is a founding member of the musical group, Namwira folks, a cultural enterprise that helps to promote multiculturalism in Manitoba. He is currently working on an album entitled NOUVEAU MONDE, NOUVELLE PERSPECTIVE [new world, new perspective], which he expects to release in late 2012.
