About
SPIRANTIA ACRUM is an eighty minute work in two parts that investigates the different combinations of the string instruments cello, double bass, and violin, with both acoustic and electronic situations. The performance tales place Saturday, November 21st at 9:30pm. The location is Graffiti Gallery, 109 Higgins Ave. $6.00 at the door.
Part 1- Una/Partem (Single/Share) sees the musicians primarily performing solo sections, with overlapping crossovers from musician to musician.
Part 2- Anni Liberum (Gears/Free) puts all the instruments
into different combinations from five to one musician. These combinations, using the creative technique of freeform examine the potential for colour, timbre, and harmonic development inherent in these instruments.
The performance features: Signe Knutson (Steam Pony) and Natanielle Felicitas on cello; Greg Hanec (Philia, Suture, field////) and Sean Stephensen (Pro Wrestler, Nugget) on violin; and Scott Ellenberger (field////, Mahogany Frog) on double bass.
