This week marks the official release of the Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival performer lineup! On Friday, August 5, music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy a high-calibre program featuring an impressive array of musicians from right here in Manitoba. Some of the musical genres that can be experienced at the 2016 festival include jazz, folk, R&B, country, rock, pop, world, and even rap - not to mention "hot funk yoga!"

The mainstage lineup begins at 6:15 pm and will continue for eight engaging hours until 2:00 am - the longest festival program to date! People are even invited to tent camp overnight within the trees of the beautiful festival grounds - camping is included in the festival admission.

This year, Whoop & Hollar has focused on incorporating an indigenous theme into the festival program. Folk fest goers will get to listen to two indigenous sets, performed by the likes of Portage's very own Lucien Spence at 6:15 pm, as well as members of the award-winning Eagle & Hawk at 8:15 pm! To boot, the indigenous musical flair will be complemented by a ceremony equipped with an indigenous blessing and drum song to kick off the festival. And if that's not enough, try envisioning the chance to savour some delicious, homemade bannock and stew!

For the first time ever, the festival will give attendees a taste of the prominent Francophone music scene that the province has to offer! Two bands will showcase their uniquely French touch: Ego Spank with a bluesy, funky twist. and Kelly Bado with a fusion of both African and jazz elements. Portage la Prairie's homegrown legend Murray Pulver - who you may probably know as part of the successful country group Doc Walker - will be performing at Whoop & Hollar 2016 as Ego Spank's frontman!! Murray will be seen in a whole new light at this year's festival.

No matter what part of the festival one might be looking forward to the most, the diverse line-up to be heard this summer has something to offer everyone!

Also as of this week, folks are now able to get their Early Bird Tickets online by clicking here! Early Bird Tickets are $15/student and $20/adult, and FREE for children 12 and under. The Early Bird period runs until July 29.
