"Trobairitz Ysabella: IV. From Jerusalem to Andalusia (II) "

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian transport the listener to the Middles Ages through music inspired by 13th Century female troubadours. This album includes works by the Armenian troubadour Sayat-Nova and the Greek songs of Maurice Ravel, all arranged by Canadian pianist and composer Serouj Kradjian. The disc also includes a new work by Kradjian that focuses on the female troubadour Ysabella and conjures up all the mystery and romance of the era. Trobairitz Ysabella has been described as having an “eastern Mediterranean flavor,” while remaining “vigorously contemporary.” On Troubadour and the Nightingale, conductor Anne Manson and the MCO have created a colorful soundscape that envelops the listener in exotic sounds.
