Nettwerk Signs Nathan

2004 is off to a good start for local Prairie Music Award winning roots trio Nathan, which recently announced signing a record deal with Vancouver-based label Nettwerk Records. Nettwerk, which is best known for being the home of Sarah McLachlan and The Be Good Tanyas, will release Nathans upcoming album in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.

Nathan, which features Keri McTighe (vocals, guitar), Shelley Bilewitch (vocals, guitar, accordion) and Devin Latimer (bass), has already started recording its sophomore release at Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg with producer John Switzer, who has worked with the likes of Jane Siberry, The Waltons, and Andrew Cash.

Two local independent record labels have had a hand in Nathans latest success. Blair Purda of Endearing records helped make Nettwerk aware of Nathans music while Jason Smith and Rob Krause of Smallman Records - which also serves as a booking agency and artist management company - brokered the deal.

The album is due to be released in the spring of 2004 and features drummer Daniel Roy, The Waking Eyes Rusty Matyas and multi-instrumentalist Jason Churko of The Paperbacks and Chords of Canada.
