Manitoba Artists Shake Up Toronto Music Conference

Posted on

The largest music conference in Canada takes over Toronto this week and will feature showcases by 12 local acts. North by Northeast (NXNE) runs June 7-10 and features an industry conference and showcase performances by over 400 artists in 40 different downtown venues.

Showcasing this year at NXNE are rock acts Floor Thirteen and Mad Young Darlings, metal quartet Domenica, instrumental metal outfit Red Blanket, alt.country singer/songwriter Romi Mayes, roots duo Jacob and Lily, singer/songwriters Ann Walton and Cat Jahnke, pop/rock bands The Details and boats, acoustic popsters J.P. Hoe & The Truly Richards, and hip-hop act Grand Analog. Jack Shapira of Unison Studios will also be traveling to Toronto for NXNE.

MANITOBA FILM & SOUND and MARIA host the 13th annual Manitoba BBQ on June 8 atop the Drake Hotel. The BBQ provides Manitobans at NXNE with the opportunity to network with some of the biggest names in the industry. This exclusive, invite-only party is one of the hottest events of the conference.

As industry events such as NXNE are vital in the advancement of local musicians’ and industry professionals’ careers, MANITOBA FILM & SOUND and MARIA provide financial support from the jointly-administered Market Access Program.
