Oh NXNE!

Wow, back from a whirlwind weekend in Toronto at NXNE. What an amazing time!! Checked out a ton of Manitoba bands that took the stage and did an awesome job performing! The bands that went east for showcases were: Moments Of Brilliance, The Wailin’ Jennys, Katie Murphy, Tele, Grand Analog, Sean Brown, Serena Postel, Sons Of York and Tigerrr Beat… and then there was the parties! The annual Manitoba BBQ was hosted by both MARIA and Manitoba Film & Sound at the Drake Hotel. The BBQ gives all the Manitoba delegates a chance to meet up with old and new friends and colleagues from across the industry. The weather held out perfectly and it was an amazing time with the usual perogies, cabbage rolls and kielbasa. Many people told us it's the highlight of their NXNE weekend. The conference hotel was host to a series of great panels and keynotes by Bob Harris of the BBC, punk icon Hugh Cornwell, and musical and technology guru Thomas Dolby. But after visiting over fourteen different venues and cabbing it all over the fine smoggy city it is good to be back in Winnipeg to enjoy the summer that has finally come! Yay!
