Happy National Aboriginal Day!

Posted on

This Sunday (June 21) is not only Father's Day, it also marks National Aboriginal Day. And we do it up big in Winnipeg. There'll be events at the Red River Exhibition, The Forks... and Wab's got all the details for what music you should check out. Don Amero, Eagle & Hawk, Tracy Bone and more!

One artist you can catch this weekend is Errol Ranville… a.k.a. "C-Weed", a nickname Errol received while growing up in a large family in a small community in rural Manitoba. He was born in the Metis settlement of Ste. Rose du Lac. He's a modern day troubadour, singer, and songwriter who has been a part of the Canadian music scene for over 30 years. He plays live at the Forks on National Aboriginal Day.

Plus, we've got tickets to giveaway for this year's Jazz Winnipeg Festival! Hard to believe it's Jazz Fest season again. This year the fest turns 20. There are some really major players coming to town to play, like Al Green, Jane Bunnett, Branford Marsalis. We feature some of the Manitoba talent this episode, like vocalists Heitha Forsyth and Jodie Borle, as well as the Jeff Presslaff Trio.

And of course, happy Fathers' Day to all the papas out there!
