Manitoba Music On Ice: Local Artists Bring Music to Warming Huts Along Assiniboine River

Posted on

Manitoba music will be heating things up on the ice of the Assiniboine River this Louis Riel Day weekend. The innovative warming huts will host a diverse line-up of local talent on Sunday, February 17, presented by The Forks and Manitoba Music, and produced by five of Winnipeg's top festivals and presenters.

From 1 to 4 p.m., visitors to the world's longest river trail will be treated to the sounds of homegrown talent courtesy of roots trio Red Moon Road (presented by West End Cultural Centre), fiddler Melissa St. Goddard (Aboriginal Music Week), singer/songwriter JD Edwards (Winnipeg Folk Festival), jazz trio The Lucas Sader Project (TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival), and up-and-comer Haley Carr (Festival du Voyageur).

The Forks will also be bringing the dance party to the ice at the Big City warming hut, featuring the turntable talents of DJ Hunnicutt and DJ Co-op.

Stay tuned for more details on warming hut locations!
