Manitoba’s music community is trading instruments for brooms and getting ready rock the house for charity.

Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film & Music will join forces once again for the Manitoba Music Rocks Charity Bonspiel, which will take place at the Granite Curling Club on February 2, 2014. The fourth annual event, which sold out quickly last year, brings the province's vibrant music community together to raise funds and awareness for the Unison Benevolent Fund.

The Unison Benevolent Fund is an assistance and referral program – created and administered by the music industry, for the music industry. A registered charity established in 2010, the Unison Benevolent Fund is designed to provide discreet relief to music industry personnel in times of personal hardship and crisis.

In the bonspiel’s three-year history, it has raised over $10,000 for the Unison Fund, landing media and national industry attention in the process, including a 2013 Signature Award for the City Winnipeg creative team behind the Manitoba Music Rocks “Curling Tips Series”.

Registration for the 2014 Manitoba Music Rocks Charity Bonspiel is now open and people of all skill levels are welcome to join in the fun and curl for a cause. All profits will be donated to the Unison Benevolent Fund. In addition to the curling, there will be some activities to keep people busy off the ice, and curlers will have a delicious finish to the event’s festivities with a celebratory dinner, with prizes for bonspiel winners as well as those who come dressed in their best, most outrageous, or vintage curling outfits, best team name, and more.
