Meet PledgeMusic's Territory Manager for Canada Cole Stephenson, who will be on hand this Wednesday, February 12 for DIY Series: Crowdfunding.

Cole Stephenson, Territory Manager for Canada, PledgeMusic
Cole's background comes from being an artist manager and musician. His first taste of the music industry came on the heels of his success as the bassist for band Rosesdead who signed to OneDaySavior in the U.S. and Black Box Recordings in Canada, where they released their debut album in 2006. Later, Stephenson's enthusiasm for the business side of the industry led him to Harris Institute’s Recording Arts Management program where he graduated with honours in 2009. He began working as an Artist & Label Services Manager at Entertainment Business Affairs and A&R for Canadian indie label Rezolute Music (home to Adam Cohen, Wake Owl and Teenage Kicks). In 2013, Stephenson’s love for independent music led him to PledgeMusic where he is currently Territory Manager for Canada.

About the Workshop
With so much press around crowdsourcing and fan-funding, these have practically become the new music business buzzwords. Crowdfunding allows an artist’s fanbase to take part in a project by pledging money to the project in return for special incentives. Thousands of music projects have been successfully funded through different crowdfunding platforms. Given the competition for music fans’ attention, and the many pitfalls of this approach, this workshop will provide tips and techniques to make a campaign stand out amongst the others and succeed in generating funds while strengthening an artist’s community.
