MANITOBA LIVE: Manitoba Music Launches New Version of Concert-Finding App
The busy season of summer music festivals is here and Manitoba Music has a new and improved way for music fans to find their music.
Manitoba Live, powered by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, is a free iOS app that helps music fans find concerts in venues and clubs and at festivals in Winnipeg and throughout the entire province. Launched in March 2014, the app gained immediate attention from media and won over local music fans looking to find reliable and comprehensive concert listings.
The newly-released Manitoba Live 2.0 features a robust search function, making it even easier to quickly find concert listings by artist, location, genre, keyword, and category. The new function lets users search for everything from open mics to album releases to festivals, find upcoming shows at individual venues or in particular Manitoba cities and towns, and helps those who perhaps only caught the first name of an interesting artist hitting local stages or maybe just wants to know about upcoming blues shows.
"We were absolutely thrilled at the response to Manitoba Live when we launched it in March," says Manitoba Music's executive director, Sara Stasiuk. "The reviews in the App Store were great, #mblive was trending on Twitter, and people kept coming up to us to say how useful the app is. We're excited to be able to work with Visual Lizard and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to improve on the user experience and give music fans an even better way to connect with artists and venues, not to mention Manitoba's fantastic music festivals."

Users can already instantly find live music events by venue and by date, see which shows are happening nearby, discover new bands and venues, see artist lineups, get more info on hundreds of local artists, connect via Twitter and Facebook, share the hottest shows with friends, and add events to their calendar so they never miss a show.
Developed by Winnipeg digital media firm Visual Lizard with design from Guppy Graphic Design, Manitoba Live is fueled by Manitoba Music’s popular listings portal, the Live Music Calendar, which attracts thousands of visitors every month. Manitoba Live takes this a step further, putting the power in the pockets of music fans across the province.
Manitoba Live is part of the celebration of the Year of Music in Manitoba, which shines a spotlight on the many exciting music events taking place in the province in 2014.
