MKM Management Services' Shane Matthewson is a JUNO and Western Canadian Music Award winning musician and Chartered Professional Accountant with 10 years of public accounting, income tax, and small business management experience. Through managing his own band KEN mode, he has gained the experience and expertise to assist musicians and record labels in navigating the choppy waters of the today’s music industry environment.

Two things are certain in life: death and taxes. In this workshop, Shane Matthewson will help you prepare for the latter through an overview of accounting and income tax from the perspective of a typical musician/music company. Topics covered will include: accounting basics, sales taxes, grants and subsidies, and business structures.
