The Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition, also known as the MEME Festival, plugs in this week for four days of cutting edge multimedia art and music. Running August 17-20, Winnipeg becomes the playground for homegrown and world class DJs, VJs, and artists who will be showcasing music and digital art in venues including The Park Theatre, Citizen, The Pyramid, The Windsor, 441 Main, and outdoors at The Cube in Old Market Square.

What started as a collective of like-minded people passionate about electronic music in 2010 has turned into a destination event for Winnipeg.

The local electronic music scene shines at the festival with over 20 homegrown artists including Joe Silva, Nathan Zahn, Mike & Deir Jasper, Emilio Del Canto, Asher Moai, Mark Grimace, Elle Fast, Kasm, Dialog, Queen Kimmy, Shael, LSDave, Theo Tzu, and more. This year's headliners include the likes of The Orb, Mr. C, Hatiras & Flipse, Justin Janes, Esette, and Miss Bliss. Find the event schedule in the MB Live app and online listings

Aspiring producers and folks interesting in audio production can check out the MEME 2017 Workshops on August 19 at Manitoba Music. The event offers a full-day learning experience and a opportunity to connect with peers and pros and brush-up on skills. Presented by Precursor Productions, this year's speakers include KlovesIsis Graham (Esette/Substation)Luke McKeehan (Nordic Tax), and Rennie Foster. Throughout the day, participants will get a step-by-step guide on how to light the creative fire and start producing electronic music today, a rare glimpse of producers' secret techniques, insight into labels' decision-making and strategies, and a front-row seat to watching a track be produced from start to finish.
