10th Edition of Week-long Residency to Focus on Business and Artistic Development for First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Recording Artists from Canada, February 21-28 2020

Submissions for the 10th edition of the Indigenous Music Residency (IMR) are now open to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit recording artists from across Canada. Running February 21-28 2020 at Elkhorn Resort on Treaty Two Territory, the residency will offer up to 20 people the opportunity to build business skills and expand their artistic abilities.

Led by Manitoba Music in partnership with Canada Council for the Arts, the IMR will provide five full days of advice, feedback, direction, and inspiration from leading industry professionals, including professional and artistic development sessions on topics critical to any career in music. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect one-on-one with several mentors for consultations about their music or business strategies.

Complete program details and online application form are available at marcatoapp.com/forms/manitobamusic/imr2020. The Deadline for submissions is December 12, 2019. For more info, please contact Shaneen Robinson-Desjarlais at imdp@manitobamusic.com, 204.975.0284.

The IMR is an initiative of the Indigenous Music Development Program at Manitoba Music, which was launched in 2004 to help First Nation, Metis, and Inuit artists develop sustainable careers in the music industry in Manitoba.

Past participants — including established acts Celeigh Cardinal, Don Amero, Drezus, iskwē, and more — have gone on to release acclaimed albums, receive multiple music awards and nominations, and make music their full-time job.

IMR is made possible through the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts; FACTOR, the Government of Canada and of Canada’s private radio broadcasters; the Province of Manitoba, and Manitoba Film & Music.
