The sākihiwē festival returns this summer with a series of outdoor pop-up concerts bringing live music to Indigenous families in the Winnipeg's core. Now in its 12th year, the festival will have seven free family events featuring local Indigenous performers every weekend in August. 

The festival is once again connecting with communities in partnership with Ka Ni KanichihkCentral Neighbourhoods Winnipeg, the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, and the Spence Neighbourhood Association.

The lineup of artists performing spans the genres and features numerous award-winning acts, including blues icon Billy Joe Green, DJ/producer Boogey The Beat with Sage Boulanger, award-winning folk duo Burnstick, music legends C-Weed Band and Ernest Monias, emerging hip hop artist Caid Jones, singer/songwriter FONTINE, electronic artist Geronimo Inutiq, folk soul artist Ila Barker, Anishinaabe MC/singer/songwriter Leonard Sumner, throat singer Nikki Komaksiutiksak, up-and-coming trio North End Legend, award-winning fiddle player Patti Kusturok, pop act Prado, blues outfit Southern Thunderbird, singer/songwriter and actress Victoria Turko, the Walking Wolf Singers, the Norman Chief Memorial Dancers, dancer Shanley Spence, and more.

As part of the festival, the West End Cultural Centre will present performers at the festival's Ellice Street Festival pop-up including Jamaican/Canadian singer/songwriter Ingrid D. Johnson, Winnipeg-based / South American-formed six-piece El Leon and the Strangers, hip hop act Osani, and Tessa Chartrand.

Bring your masks to keep everyone safe for the concerts, which will have attendance for concerts is capped at 150 (including event staff).
