Call for Submissions: National Indigenous Peoples Day Concert + Meeting
Deadline: Thursday May 19, 2022 at 4PM CT
Indigenous Music is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with an all-day family-friendly concert at The Cube in Winnipeg’s Exchange District on Tuesday June 21, 2022. The event will spotlight Indigenous artists from Manitoba along with a DJ, Pow Wow demonstration, Metis jigging/fiddle performance, Inuit throat singing, and children’s entertainment.
Artists selected to participate will receive an honorarium and be invited to attend an industry meeting the following week to make music business connections. More details TBA.
Artists considered for this opportunity must:
- Be a current resident of Manitoba and Manitoba Music member or become a member if selected
- Be a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit artist or group
- Be able to perform up to 15 minutes of original family-friendly material or arrangements live
- Have a current or upcoming release (demo / EP / full-length)
- Have a track record of virtual or live performances in the last two years
- Have artist profile pages on social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter)
- Be available June 21 for a live performance at The Cube between 12 - 10PM
- Update your indigenousmusic.ca profile page with current music, images, bio, and links to social media
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee of industry professionals based on:
- Quality of recorded music
- Quality of promotional materials
- Rationale for the opportunity
- Online presence and fan engagement
